Learn the basics of wheel throwing over the course of 6 weeks! Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of wheel throwing, functional design, and local ceramic history. Students will gain additional practice rendering form in sketches and bringing those drawings to life. Students will also learn to train their “vernacular glance” to recognize form and find or make decorative tools from the environmental elements that surround us every day.
Class includes cost of clay for throwing during the one hour of guided instruction. Students have an option to stay for up to two more hours of independent practice each week, for which they can purchase more clay by the lb. All firing and glazing is included.
Any absences week will have the option for independent make-up time during community studio hours.
