YOGA FOR PALESTINE

  • Make Space Workshop + Classroom 31 Masters Drive, Unit 1 St. Augustine, FL, 32084 United States (map)

Guest Teachers Lauren Rhegness & Steff Mahon

The practice of yoga can offer a space of curiosity and reflection, to not only move closer within but encourage a vision for how one could be in relationship with the world around us. Yoga can be used to enact positive social change or it can be a tool of oppression. This special two hour session will explore the intersection of yogic principles and social justice.

Join us in a group discussion to begin grappling with the harm and non-stop violence we are bearing witness to in Palestine. We will explore the first of the yoga sutras, the Yama’s, which include ahimsa and satya, and are the principles for how to interact with the world around us and enact positive social change. Alongside our conversation, you can expect somatic movements and grounded breathwork followed by a gentle/moving yin practice.

Please bring a mat, blanket, journal, pen, and water bottle- if you do not have any of those items let us know ahead of time so we can gather enough to share. Your $10 (min.) donation to join will go towards mutual aid on the ground in Gaza.

This workshop is open and accessible to all. We believe it is our responsibility to move beyond the physical practice of yoga and activate every resource available to fight for the liberated freedom of all our brothers and sisters around the world. We are all connected.
